The money questions.
01How do lumens work?
Lumens are the one credit behind everything you render. Every model has a fixed lumen price (the rate card on this page), you see the exact cost before you confirm, and nothing is ever charged silently. As a reference: a typical image runs 50 lumens, a typical video clip 100, and a complete finished ad lands around 940 with script, voiceover, clips, and captions included.
02Do unused lumens roll over?
Yes. On every paid plan your monthly lumens stack on top of whatever you have left, and lumens you buy as top-ups never expire, even if you later cancel. The free 900-lumen starting grant is a one-time batch rather than a monthly allowance.
03Why do models cost different amounts?
Because they cost us different amounts to run. A quick draft image takes a fraction of the compute of ten seconds of full-HD video, and the lumen price tracks that. The upside: cheap drafts stay genuinely cheap, and you only pay premium rates when you deliberately pick a premium engine.
04Can I pay yearly?
Yes. Starter, Pro, and Studio each have a yearly plan at $190, $390, and $990: exactly two months free compared with paying monthly. You are billed once a year and your lumens still land every month. One catch worth knowing: the first-month launch discount applies to monthly plans only, so it does not stack on a yearly purchase.
05Can I switch plans or cancel?
Both, anytime. Upgrades and downgrades take effect right away, and canceling keeps your plan active through the end of the period you already paid for. Lumens you purchased stay yours and never expire.
06What exactly is the free ad?
Every new account starts with 900 lumens, enough to render one complete ad end to end. No card, and no subscription either: the grant is yours to spend before you ever pick a plan. If you have a referral code, redeeming it adds extra lumens on top of the 900. Free renders carry a small Overlume watermark that lifts the moment you move to any paid plan.
07How do launch discounts work?
Two things are going on. The struck-through numbers on this page are list prices; $19, $39, and $99 are launch prices, and they are what you are actually charged. Separately, signed-in members can claim a one-time discount of up to 40% off their first month from the billing page.
