Short, honest answers to the questions people ask most, from your first render to how lumens, output, and safety work. Anything not covered here, the email at the bottom reaches a person.
Getting started
You need one thing to start: a product. Paste a product link, drop a screenshot, or type a few notes about what you sell. That is enough for the pipeline to begin.
From there an eight step pipeline does the work, from scraping your product and writing a hook to the script, the voiceover, and the final cut. Most ads finish in a few minutes, not days, and the result is a post ready vertical video built on brand with your logo, colors, and voice. You watch it render before you decide anything.
Every new account starts free with 900 lumens, our render credits, enough for one complete ad. No card is required, and no subscription either: the grant is yours to spend before you ever pick a plan. A referral code adds extra lumens on top of it. Free renders carry a small Overlume watermark, which lifts the moment you upgrade.
The output, and where it runs
What you get is a finished vertical video ad at 1080 by 1920, the native 9:16 format for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. It arrives with the hook, the script, the voiceover, and the cut already assembled, so you can publish it as is or drop it into your editor. More aspect ratios are on the way.
The ads are yours to keep, post, and run as paid advertising. Every paid plan carries a commercial license: you bring the product, the brand, and the rights to them, and we turn them into a finished ad. The voiceover step supports multiple voices and languages, so you can localize the same product for different markets without reshooting anything. What you own is spelled out in the Terms.
Lumens & billing
Overlume runs on lumens, and you always see the real cost before you spend. Before every paid action a preview shows what it will cost and what you will have left. If an action would take you past zero, we stop you at that preview with a top-up link. Nothing is ever charged silently.
You start free with 900 lumens. Paid plans are Starter at $19 a month for 3,200 lumens (about 3 ads), Pro at $39 for 6,600 lumens (about 7 ads), and Studio at $99 for 17,200 lumens (about 18 ads). Your plan refreshes that batch every month. Need more mid month? Buy a top-up pack anytime, and members get a bonus on every top-up: +5% on Starter, +10% on Pro, +15% on Studio.
You can cancel anytime, and your plan stays active through the end of the period you paid for. Refunds are simple because the rule is simple: a new subscription is refundable within 14 days if you have not spent any lumens from it. Once you spend a lumen it pays for real compute we buy immediately, so that portion is used. Your statutory rights as an EU consumer are unaffected. The full detail is in the Refund & Credits Policy.
Working from Claude or Cursor (MCP)
Overlume ships an MCP server, so an AI agent can use the Studio for you: check your balance, browse your library, and render images, clips, and voiceovers with your lumens. You create a personal token under Account, add one command or config block to your client, and your agent is connected. It works on every plan, and read calls are free. Setup steps, the tool reference, and the security details live on the MCP page.
Trust & safety
We do not use your uploaded media or your finished ads to train public models, and we do not sell your personal data. Your uploads and renders are processed by our providers for the sole purpose of producing your output, and then they are yours. How we handle data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Overlume is for legitimate product ads only. We enforce a strict acceptable use policy with zero tolerance for abuse. You are responsible for holding the rights to what you bring in and for following the ad policies of wherever you post. The line on what is allowed lives in the Acceptable Use Policy.
A note on the demo
The renders you see on the marketing site are cached examples, chosen so the page stays fast and predictable. Your own ad is generated live from your product when you start a render inside the app. What the demo shows is the kind of output the pipeline makes, not a stock reel standing in for it.
