A back-bearing compass that holds your line when the path disappears

I built this for fell running when the cloud comes down and you lose the trod. Set a bearing, look up, and it shows your drift left or right in big degrees. No map, just the heading. The 600x600 stays mostly black so it doesn't blind you in fog.
Tells you which end of the platform to stand on for your exit
Keep a bearing to the next headland without staring at your phone

The drift-left/right in big degrees is exactly the right call for fog — a full compass rose is useless when you can't fixate. Does the back-bearing hold if I reverse direction at a checkpoint, or do I have to re-set 043?
